Practice Development Counsel's
"WINNING THE MULTI-GENERATIONAL BRIDGING CHALLENGE"

PROGRAM

Are you concerned about stressing out your first string-team and losing your bench strength because of inadequate communication and differing work attitudes and objectives among the generations? Our programs help you win that challenge.

  • Begin with a pilot group: a practice group, work team, small office group, or other affinity group of varying ages - a mix of at least two generations.

  • We conduct interviews with management and members of the group on:

    * Specific issues causing tensions
    * Life and work objectives
    * What motivates their loyalty
    * What trade-offs they would make

We use an Appreciative Inquiry approach which focuses on goals and what it's important to achieve rather than past baggage. This is best done by a neutral third party to maximize candor and confidentiality.

  • We hold a management briefing on the current issues raised.

  • We and the client jointly select three issues to address in a series of facilitated discussions involving all the generations in the pilot group together. The process:

    1) Awareness - Flesh out the issues from all perspectives

    2) Chose one issue to work on and reach agreement on new approaches, action steps and timetable.

    3) Monitor and review progress.

    4) Follow the same process for the second issue.

    5) Repeat for the third issue.

  • Review and document milestones to improvement and resolution quarterly.

  • Select the next pilot group.
