ANOTHER TAKE ON DIVERSITY

Objective: To strengthen the firm through an increased appreciation of and best deployment of all aspects of diversity.

For a long time, the notion of improving "diversity" in organizations has been focused on increasing the numbers and influence of minorities and women. While that is no less important than ever, two other aspects of diversity need more attention in building strong, lasting, competitive firms: 1) age diversity - collaboration of the generations; and 2) higher valuing of the capabilities and skills not taught in law school but that are vital to running a firm and providing the best all-around service to clients:

The program covers:

    • Why capabilities and skills such as business strategic thinking, interpersonal skills, management and mentoring need to be more highly valued and rewarded in firms;
    • How competitors such as accounting and consulting firms are better serving clients by putting these skills in the forefront;
    • How to be a strong, diversified firm without being an MDP (multi-disciplinary practice);
    • Taking better advantage of age diversity;
    • Outline of steps to take to improve diversity.
