Steven A. Lauer

Steven A. Lauer is a consultant on issues related to the efficient delivery of legal service to corporate clients, strategic cost-control initiatives for legal departments, and relations between corporate clients and outside law firms. He has 14 years experience as in-house counsel in law departments ranging from two to over 300 attorneys and as the sole in-house attorney and General Counsel.

Mr. Lauer was an Assistant General Counsel for Prudential Insurance. He was Project Director for the Prudential Law Department's Outside Counsel Utilization Task Force. He designed and managed the preparation and distribution of work packages (RFPs) by which Prudential restructured its purchase of legal services. He also organized a team of environmental litigation firms and developed litigation-management tools. He has written numerous articles on issues related to the management of corporate legal service.
